LAGOS: Kidnappers have freed 42 folks, together with 27 youngsters, snatched from a college in central Nigeria 10 days in the past, officers mentioned on Saturday, a day after gunmen kidnapped greater than 300 schoolgirls within the northwest.
“The kidnapped college students, employees and family members of Authorities Science School Kagara have regained their freedom and have been obtained by the Niger state authorities,” Niger state governor Abubakar Sani Bello mentioned on Twitter.
In mid-February, gunmen in army uniforms raided the faculty, killing one pupil and taking 42 others. They included 27 schoolboys, three lecturers and different family members of faculty employees, officers mentioned. Northwest and central Nigeria have seen a surge in assaults by closely armed felony gangs raiding villages, killing and abducting residents after looting and torching houses.
On Friday, within the Jangebe, a village in Zamfara state, a gang attacked the Authorities Ladies Science Secondary College. It was the nation’s third faculty assault in lower than three months — a collection that has revived traumatic reminiscences of the “Chibok ladies” kidnapped by Jihadists almost seven years in the past. —AFP
